What to expect

Ready to head beyond the beaches of Sharm and see some of Egypt’s mysterious masterpieces? This jam-packed full-day tour whisks you across the Red Sea by plane to Luxor, the city known as the world’s greatest open-air museum. The Nile splits the city, and both its east and west banks are bursting with ancient moments that you’ll visit, including the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Karnak Temple and the Colossi of Memnon.

You'll catch a flight to Luxor in the early hours of the morning and head straight to your first stop of the day, the Valley of the Kings – home to 63 royal tombs, famously including Tutankhamun. You’ll venture into three tombs, spotting vivid wall paintings and hieroglyphs along the walls until you reach the 3,500-year-old burial chambers – talk about a sense of awe!

Next, you’ll head to the ancient Temple of Hatshepsut, nestled into the cliffs by the Nile, and a little further along you’ll be faced with two of the most imposing statues you’re ever likely to see. The staggering Colossi of Memnon are two monumental statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, and they make for quite the selfie. Rest your legs with a set menu lunch break at a local restaurant, before your final stop of the day, the sprawling complex of towering temples, chapels and statues that make up Karnak Temple.

Best of all, you can sit back and enjoy this sweep through thousands of years of history, as all the planning, transfers and logistics are taken care of.

Wonderful guides and service from security person although we did not know there was going to be an armed security man with us all day, would have been nice to know in advance. Day was long which we knew but we’re not advised of 2 hour wait at hotel before flight back. We were not advised to take towels for possible swim at hotel at the end of the day either!

Great day out, very knowledgable guide and loved the boat crossing the Nile. Would be good to have a little more time for lunch/sites and less time at the papyrus and alabaster factories

It’s a very long day, which was expected but tiring. The staff were excellent, very friendly and the guide was very knowledgeable. The sights and experience were awesome. There is a hard sell in the alabaster factory, also predictable and didn’t really add to the experience. River boat crossing wasn’t expected but was a highlight and we would recommend. Some guidance on tipping would be helpful and we would have liked a little more time to explore on our own (we did get some time late in the day

Luxor was an interesting place, I enjoyed seeing the city and the tombs. That’s where it ends. It was very hot the day I went, the tour was rushed and we were marched from one area to the other, often only given half and to get in and out. This went on until 3pm constant until we finally stopped for lunch! We were shattered. Lunch was a very quick hour, food was overcooked and dry, I could not eat mine. The waiters rushed us took my starter before I had chance to eat it. Icecream was lovely.
