What to expect

This 9-hour hiking tour will take you to the central part of the island, near the highest peak of Gran Canaria – Pico de las Nieves (1957 m above sea level).

Here you'll be amazed by the view of the neighboring Roque Nublo, the east and south coast of the island and, if the visibility is good, you'll be able to spot Pico de Teide (3718 m above sea level). Enjoy the panorama of the surrounding villages and discover rock formations and forests covered with Canary pine.

After hiking you'll have lunch at a local restaurant where you can try regional dishes such as the mojo and alioli sauces, the famous papas arrugadas and more.

Route details: distance: 10km ↑ 400m ascent ↓400m descent. Maximum height: 1917m; minimum height: 1650m.

In the period May 15 - September 30, the "Peaks of Gran Canaria" route will be carried out according to the following characteristics: Distance: approx. 7km, Ascent/Descent: 250-300m, Time: approx. 3,5h

Pickup service is available for Maspalomas area and Mogan area. The Maspalomas area includes Bahia Feliz, San Agustin, Playa del Inglés, Meloneras, Sonnenland, Campo Internacional, San Fernando. The Mogan area includes Arguineguin, Puerto Rico, Taurito, Puerto de Mogan. Please be ready outside the reception of your hotel 5 minutes before your scheduled pickup time. Remember to bring:

Mountain clothing or sportwear
Hiking shoes with good grip are mandatory and will be checked by a guide before starting the trip
From October to March, the weather can vary more easily and rainfalls are usually more frequent (trips during rainy days are generally avoided, but sometimes the weather can be a surprise). Warm clothing with long sleeves as well as long trousers and, just in case, a rain jacket which can also serve as a windstopper are strongly recommended
Considering the fact that dinner in the restaurant is at about 3.30pm and that everyone has individual preferences, you can take a light meal of your own, for example: fruits, energy bars, almonds, biscuits, sandwiches, etc.

Full-day Gran Canaria tour with Teror, Tejeda and typical lunch

Villages, viewpoints and volcanic rocks dot Gran Canaria's jagged spine. This tour weaves its way through some of the island's most dramatic landscapes, stopping along the way to visit gems such as Teror, Tejeda and Fataga. David, one of our local guides, says, ‘The legend of the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Teror still intrigues me. It was in 1481, amid the Castilian conquest of Gran Canaria, and it helped change the island's destiny.'And Teror is where your adventure begins. Strolling past the balconied townhouses of Calle Real de la Plaza towards the mountain-framed basilica of Our Lady of the Pine is one of the defining Gran Canaria experiences. A scenic mountain drive away is Tejeda, which is a bit of a looker itself – red-roofed, whitewashed houses sprinkled on the slope of a valley. David adds, ‘Every time there's a list of Spain's prettiest villages, Tejeda is near the top. Its setting is unbeatable.' There's also a pit stop at Las Tirajanas viewpoint to admire a vast volcanic caldera, as we make our way to Fataga to eat. A lunch made from locally sourced ingredients will be served in a family-owned restaurant.
