What to expect

The best of the Mexican Caribbean is calling on this exclusive boat trip to Isla Mujeres – think snorkelling, A-list landscapes, and pampering along the way, all in a family-friendly setting. Maria, one of our expert local guides, says, "Isla Mujeres, or the 'Island of Women,' was once a sacred place for the Maya, who linked it to the goddess Ix Chel. These days, it's a sanctuary for sea turtles and sits right next to the UNESCO-sited Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, making it a prime spot for snorkelling, diving, and eco-adventures."

Your day kicks off with a hotel pick-up and check-in at Marina Hacienda del Mar. After hopping aboard the exclusive TUI Collection catamaran, you'll cruise through the Mexican Caribbean waters, making your first stop to snorkel. The coral reefs here are something to shout about, plus, you'll likely spot tropical fish – and if you're lucky, maybe even a sea turtle. Kids aged over eight can join in on the snorkelling fun, too, if they're with an adult, while those a little younger can enjoy a swim as long as an adult stays with them.

Next, you'll head to Isla Mujeres' downtown before arriving at our exclusive beach club, where it's relaxation to a T. Think unlimited drinks from the open bar, a delicious grill buffet and sun beds under the palms. If you're in the mood for a little adventure, a guided golf cart tour can take you to the southern tip of the island – perfect for those all-important holiday pics, with rugged coastline views and a lighthouse. Children under eight years old can't take part in the snorkelling session
Children eight years old and over can join in with the snorkelling if they are accompanied by an adult
You'll need to be able to swim around 400 metres to enjoy the guided snorkelling session
Just so you know, as the snorkelling is by a coral reef, you'll need to wear bio-degradable suncream to protect the environment, or you can buy some onboard
If you choose to take the golf cart trip, it's around 50 minutes, otherwise you can relax at the beach club

Brilliant experience from start to finish. Catamaran staff were excellent, very attentive and enthusiastic, we really enjoyed our time on the boat. The island was beautiful, golf buggy tour was fun, saw some great sights. Beach club was nice, good food and drinks although did feel a little busy. Snorkelling was not quite as expected, it was quite choppy, deep water and surrounded by lots of boats, not the quiet colourful coral reef I imagined but the staff were very good. Overall fantastic trip.

The transfer never arrived and there was no communication from the Tui Reps of an issue. We waited 2 hours then had to book our own taxi to the port. When we arrived there was no Tui rep to greet us so it was very confusing on where to go next. We were put on a boat that wasnt a Tui ship and even though the crew on board were fantastic, we were sold a TUI only boat with a santa on board for xmas day and this didn’t happen leaving our children very upset. Theres more to say…

We were not allowed to snorkel because the water was choppy, the whole point of the trip was to snorkel so it was disappointing.

The trip was very well organised. Unfortunately due to the wind we were unable to snorkel with all the tropical fish. However, the trip was fun, the golf buggies were funny. The kids enjoyed themselves too. I recommend this trip.

Hop aboard a super-speedy boat headed to Cozumel Island, where the turquoise waters of the Caribbean and its marine life are waiting. Soak up the breathtaking landscapes before snorkelling at two of the most famous reefs in the southern part of the island, Palancar and Colombia. They're separated by a couple of metres of open water, so you'll have wall-to-wall reef to explore. Next stop is the shores of El Cielo – which literally means ‘the sky' in English – as it's famous for its peaceful atmosphere and giant starfish population, which you'll find covering much of the ocean floor. You'll also have the chance to see stingrays and other sea creatures during your time here.
